Abstract: When evaluating the energy efficiency of hybrid electric vehicles, the test standard introduces a modified test procedure to evaluate their fuel economy based on the modified results, as the change in electrical energy of the vehicle's rechargeable electric energy storage system during the test process can affect fuel consumption. To study the differences in correction coefficients and their impact on fuel consumption evaluation, a fuel consumption correction coefficient test is conducted on a certain vehicle model, and the obtained correction coefficient is used to correct the measured fuel consumption. The results indicate that the corrected fuel consumption can truly and objectively reflect the fuel economy of the vehicle, but there are significant differences in the correction coefficients obtained by different vehicles. Directly using the fuel consumption correction coefficient may result in completely opposite conformity evaluations of fuel consumption. The above conclusions can guide vehicle manufacturers in selecting the fuel consumption correction coefficient and formulating fuel consumption declaration values when in the type approval of fuel consumption for the vehicle.
