Abstract: As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly deeply involved in and transforming the world, the pattern of social division of labor among workers will gradually be changed. This trend puts forward new requirements for the knowledge, ability and quality of engineering talents, and urges the reform of curriculum system and teaching mode. The training objectives should focus on cultivating innovative capabilities and quality development to meet societal needs in the AI era. The restructuring of curricula must integrate interdisciplinary knowledge to enhance students' innovation capacity, foster their skills in applying and developing AI technologies, and strengthen education in AI and engineering ethics. The transformation of teaching methodologies should leverage AI and other emerging technologies, capitalize on the advantages of reverse project-based learning, provide personalized and customized training models for engineering students, and create flexible learning and practical scenarios. This paper offers insights for cultivating innovative engineers in the AI era who are committed to serving humanity.
