Abstract: Suspension is one of the key components of the vehicle chassis system and has a significant impact on vehicle ride comfort. Traditional passive suspensions cannot adjust their damping according to the operating conditions of the vehicle, resulting in limited vibration reduction effects. Semi-active suspensions can adjust their damping in real time according to different operating conditions, effectively improving the ride comfort of the vehicle. This article establishes a simulation model of a semi-active suspension for a heavy commercial vehicle based on the skyhook control strategy using TruckSim and MATLAB/Simulink, as well as a simulation model of a traditional passive suspension. The vibration reduction effects of the two suspensions are compared. The results show that compared to traditional passive suspensions, semi-active suspensions based on skyhook control strategies can effectively improve vehicle ride comfort, with a reduction of 22.9% in the root mean square value of body acceleration, a reduction of 15.1% in the root mean square value of suspension dynamic deflection, and a reduction of 9.8% in the root mean square value of tire dynamic load.
