Abstract: In order to investigate the performance and emission characteristics of high compression ratio methanol engines under lean combustion conditions, a modified diesel engine is selected as the research object, and the relevant one and three dimensional CONVERGE simulation model is built. The effects of different equivalent ratio, compression ratio and ignition time on combustion efficiency and emission of engine are systematically analyzed by simulating the actual working process of engine. The results show that compared with the standard mixture combustion, the lean combustion mode can use less methanol fuel to meet the performance requirements of the engine, save fuel and reduce CO2 emission. If ignition at the optimal ignition time or increase the compression ratio, it can maintain low CO2 emissions while increasing the cylinder pressure can meet the engine power performance, but it will lead to increased NOX emissions. This study provides a valuable reference for performance optimization and emission control of methanol engines.
