Abstract: Research on road traffic safety in Tibet can effectively reduce the number of traffic accidents in Tibet, reduce economic losses, and promote the work of ensuring people's livelihood. This paper uses the improved entropy weight-technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) method to construct the road traffic safety evaluation index system from six aspects: 100 000 population death rate, 10 000 vehicle death rate, 1 000 km death rate, average death rate per accident, fatality rate, and death rate per 100 million gross regional product to evaluate the road traffic safety in Tibet. The results show that there is a strong correlation between road traffic safety level and economic factors such as regional gross domestic product, motorization degree and road network length, and the current situation of road traffic safety in urban areas of Tibet also has great differences. Based on this, combined with the evaluation results of road traffic safety in Tibet's urban areas, we strive to use relevant data to describe the current situation of road traffic safety in Tibet's urban areas, and provide a strong basis for the relevant departments to introduce traffic safety measures.
