Abstract: Ultra-wide tires theoretically have the advantages of light weight and small rolling resistance. In order to study the specific impact of this technology on the power and economy of semi-trailer tractors and articulated trains, it is selected to match ultra-wide tires and traditional double tires on a semi-trailer tractor in Jianghuai and the corresponding articulated train, and carry out the corresponding road taxing test and chassis dynamometer power and economy test. Through the taxi test in four states and the power and economy test in two states, it is concluded that when the ultra-wide tire is matched to the semi-trailer tractor, the advantage is not obvious enough; However, when matching to the hinged train, the economy will be significantly optimized, and the power performance is basically equivalent.
