Abstract: Electric vehicles safety requirements have been upgraded from a recommended national standard (GB/T 18384—2015 series standards) to a mandatory national standard (GB 18384— 2020), and have been implemented on January 1, 2021. Through research, this paper finds that some concepts or requirements of the standard clauses are worthy of discussion, such as scope, terms and definitions, voltage levels, high voltage markings, direct contact protection requirements, indirect contact protection requirements, waterproof requirements, functional safety protection requirements, and vehicle fire resistance requirements, vehicle incident data recording requirements, and some test methods related to the provisions of the requirements, etc. It is hoped that the analysis and research in this paper will be able to spark new ideas of others for a deeper understanding of the safety requirements of electric vehicles and provide a reference for the standard future revisions.
