Abstract: A heavy-duty diesel engine that meets the current China Ⅵ emission standards is selected to run pollutant emission test on the engine test bench, used two fuels including B7 diesel and B20 diesel, with emphasis on the analysis of fine particulate number (PN) emission. The results show that the specific emission of PN10 in each cycle is 72%~132% higher than that of PN23 when the two biodiesel fuel are used, which is similar to that when diesel is used as fuel. With the increase of the volume ratio of two kinds of biodiesel, PN23 and PN10 in each cycle basically showed a downward trend, but the PN emission proportion of particle size 10~23 nm is still large. At the start-up stage of cold world harmonized transient cycle (WHTC), PN10 of B20 diesel is higher than that of B7 diesel, which may be related to the fact that the density and kinematically viscosity of biodiesel are higher than that of petrochemical diesel. Further optimization of atomization of injector should be considered when using biodiesel.
