Urban Intersection Capacity Optimization Design Based on HCM Operational Analysis Method in USA

摘要: 为提高道路交叉口通行效率及通行能力,文章以城市道路交叉口为研究对象,结合实 地数据采集结果与相关评价指标,运用美国《道路通行能力手册》(HCM)运行分析方法, 对交叉口的通行能力进行系统评估。在此基础上,提出具有针对性的改善措施,并深入分析 及评价其实施效果,以进一步提升交叉口通行能力。研究首先从交叉口的地域功能、路网布 局、信号配时以及路段交通流特征等方面展开分析,选取车流量与服务水平作为核心评价指 标,明确评估方法及相关影响因素,据此计算得出当前交叉口的车流量与服务水准。针对该 交叉口存在的问题,研究对信号配时方案等进行优化设计,并采用交通仿真手段验证优化后 通行能力与服务水平的提升效果。研究旨在通过科学优化交通流组织、提升通行流畅性、降 低交通事故风险,最终改善居民出行体验。

Abstract: To enhance the efficiency and capacity of road intersections, this article takes urban road intersections as the research object. By combining the results of on-site data collection and relevant evaluation indicators, and using the operational analysis method of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) of the United States, the traffic capacity of the intersections is systematically evaluated. Based on this, targeted improvement measures are proposed, and their implementation effects are analyzed and evaluated in depth to further enhance the traffic capacity of the intersections. The research first analyzes the regional functions of the intersections, the layout of the road network, the signal timing, and the traffic flow characteristics of the sections. It selects traffic volume and service level as the core evaluation indicators, clarifies the evaluation methods and related influencing factors, and thereby calculates the current traffic volume and service level of the intersections. In response to the existing problems of this intersection, the research optimizes the signal timing scheme and uses traffic simulation methods to verify the improvement effects of the traffic capacity and service level after optimization. The research aims to improve the travel experience of residents through scientific optimization of traffic flow organization, enhancing traffic smoothness, and reducing the risk of traffic accidents.
